Bandit’s Adoption and Rescue of K-9s, or BARK, has been rescuing orphaned or abandoned pets, as well as adoptable dogs from animal shelters in the Richmond region for many years. This non-profit’s great work has helped to find homes for 500 to 700 dogs every year!
With adoption stands every weekend and some during the week, BARK works day in and out to help make the lives of these dogs better by finding them great forever-homes. They host Adoption Outings every Saturday at the Jessica Beath Clinic that is located at 12300 Farrington Road in Ashland, Virginia from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Additionally, every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month they have another stand at the Petsmart at 9751 Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg, Virginia from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM by Cosner’s Corner.
A newer endeavor taken on by BARK is their partnership with the Lawrenceville Correctional Center. The goal is to team dogs with offenders for a longer period of time to try to give both the dog and the individual a positive experience. BARK also holds special events like Pups on the Patio to raise money for dogs that need extensive veterinarian care. Pups on the Patio is held on the 4th Friday of the month from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Bar Louie at 11788 West Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia at Short Pump Town Center.
